I grew up in Portland,OR and let Snowboarding dictate my life for the better part of 20 years. I have lived in Bend since 2007 where I atteneded OSU Cascades and have found myself professionally through the ski/snb retail industry, as a media producer (photographer, videographer, editor), a special project assistant at Visit Bend where I focused on user surveys and analytical data based research and since 2010 I have been the Brand Manager at BlackStrap Industries. I have 2 shred dogs that test gear for Ruffwear, an amazing wife who is a horticulturist & bee keeper and a 2.5 year old daughter named Hazel who (Coincidentally) wants to snowboard, ski and ride bikes when she grows up.
Erik earned his undergrad in Creative Writing from Western Washington University and a Graduate Certificate in Publishing from Columbia University. He worked at Random House for a time before realizing that his passion was in bikes and the outdoors. He moved back to the west coast to open a small bike shop in Seattle that was then sold to a competitor in its first year. He migrated to Portland where he was the Digital Marketing lead at Chris King for five years and is now the Marketing Director for Robert Axle Project and Old Man Mountain.
Taking over for Kelly Hervey from the Laird Superfood Digital Marketing Team. With my specific role, I have a foot in marketing and in creative as I do design work as well as email & SMS marketing. I'm a people person to my core, a lover of pinot noir, very competitive, loves to run, a golden retriever mom, a team leader, a problem solver who sees the big picture and does what it takes.
