Aly Waibel, PhD is the Executive Director of Opportunity Knocks. She is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning and operations of Opportunity Knocks. She works closely with the Board of Directors to develop and accomplish Opportunity Knock's mission and goal of supporting growth and economic development in the Central Oregon business community.
Aly has over ten years of experience teaching adults in a variety of businesses and community settings. She specializes in professional development, lifelong learning, somatic and contemplative learning and community development. Aly recieved her PhD from the department of Teaching, Learning and Sociocultural Studies at the University of Arizona College of Education. Her dissertation research was the first qualitative study of the Since 2013, as a Certified Facilitator of the Stanford Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) program, Aly has facilitated classes in Tucson, AZ, Portland, OR and Bend, OR. She worked as an Educational Consultant at the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education to evaluate and develop the CCT Teacher Training program.
Aly received her B.A. in International Studies at Taylor University and her M.A. in Language, Reading and Culture at the University of Arizona. She lives in Bend with her partner James and sweet dog Beren.
