Volunteers in Medicine is a non-profit free clinic for the uninsured in Central Oregon. since the ACA in 2014, most of our patients are Latino immigrants who are excluded from insurance and OHP. VIM has cared for close to 10,000 individuals since opening in 2004. Our model is to provide space and coordination for hundreds of medical and lay volunteers each year to care for those who are sick and need medical care and medications. We are able to reduce the number of uninsured in the Emergency Room, and ensure that people with chronic diseases are able to care for themselves, and thus their families. Our financial impact to the community is $5-7 Million annually in health care services.
