OK 22: Start-Up Team
The Members of OK Team 22 are early-stage start-up business owners.
Meeting Time: Second Tuesday of the month from 4:00 – 6:00pm.
I work with organizations that need a Chief Operating Officer but can't afford an experienced candidate full time. I provide a fractional model where I work with 2 - 3 businesses at any given time, serving as a part-time Chief Operating Officer who can help them with strategic planning, leadership, staff development, project management, and much more. In short, I drive execution for key initiatives and priorities to move the needle and to help organizations transform from striving to thriving!
Jennie Thom is an Artist, Instructor and the owner of Bright Life Creative Studio. She creates her own original art, and helps others discover and embrace their own creativity. She believes in anyone and everyone’s creative potential, and shows this as she skillfully yet effortlessly brings out the artist in those who find themselves sitting in front of a blank canvas at one of her painting parties.
She has taught art on 2 continents in 2 languages and has showcased her talents in ways ranging from gallery exhibits to performance art to independent film. For years she sold her paintings at high end art shows all over the US, from the Portland Pearl District to the Twin Cities of Minnesota and just about everywhere in between.
Jennie holds a B.A. in Fine Art from San Diego State University, and has lived in Bend, OR for over 10 years.
I am currently the co-founder of Gearvana, LLC - a concept-stage start-up focused on outdoor lifestyle topics. My previous career was in medical device marketing / sales / product management, both in imaging (PET, SPECT, CT) and in-vitro testing (Immunoassay, Chemistry, Automation, IT). When not working on Gearvana topics, I volunteer with the Deschutes Country Search and Rescue team as well as the Board President for Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center (non-profit).
I'm the founder and owner of Venture Beneath the Sky, LLC and consider myself an adventurer of all types. My early career in Education magically morphed into Sales, Marketing, and Business Development for about a decade before I embraced the adventure and challenge of entrepreneurship. I see my startup as an opportunity to benefit families + communities while continuing to personally grow as a community member, an entrepreneur, and (fingers crossed) a highly functioning, good human. Special thanks to COVID-19 for giving me the final nudge to pursue my full potential and my commitment to use business to give back.
I am the co-founder of the Haelan House the non-profit that puts on the annual healing trauma conference.
I am known as the connector. I enjoy bringing people and projects together to create mutually beneficial relationships.
I am also co-organizer of Bend Wellness Community Meetup and Central Oregon Women's Wellness Meetup.
I am the owner/operator of Vagabond Silver, focusing on traditionally handmade jewelry. I have returned to the Central Oregon area in 2017 with my wife after living in Portland and Montana for the past 15 years.
After a cancer remission I left a managerial position with a major corporate company to start and build Vagabond Silver. Without a formal arts education I enjoy the freedom to mix my own inspiration with science to turn precious metals into elegant jewelry.
