After zigzagging between careers in the non-profit world, the corporate world, and raising two kids, Katharine landed in Bend and launched Mountain Valley Co. to help big-hearted professionals across the US consciously adapt to the peaks and valleys of modern life, while nurturing their strategic vision. Meg Chun is the co-founder and current President of Bend Surf. Prior to launching Bend Surf in 2021, Meg was the CEO and co-founder of KIALOA Paddles where she held a myriad of leadership positions for over 20 years. At the end of 2018 she led the team successfully led the team through the sale of KIALOA Paddles to Werner Paddles.

Prior to living the life of a business owner, Meg spent the first 15 years of her career as a Special Education teacher. Today she blends the skills she acquired as a teacher with her business experience and also spends time consulting, coaching and mentoring others.

Meg is a member of the U.S. Bank Advisory Board, a legacy board member of the Oregon Outdoor Alliance, a board Member of Terra Frma and a co-facilitator of an Opportunity Knocks business group. She is a coach and an active racing member of Bend Oregon Outrigger Canoe Club.

Meg works and lives in Bend, Oregon with her husband Dave where she shares her passion for paddling and enjoys the many outdoor activities that Central Oregon has to offer.

Since April 2013, I have served as executive director of the Warm Springs Community Action Team (WSCAT), leading WSCAT’s 10-person staff and working with the WSCAT board, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs (CTWS) tribal government, and community partners to promote community development on the Warm Springs Reservation. Before coming to Warm Springs, I served as a senior analyst at the Administration for Native Americans (ANA) in Washington DC, evaluating nearly 100 community-based projects implemented by Native American tribes and nonprofits, including over 40 economic development projects. I have also served as a consultant, researcher, and evaluator for various U.S. and international NGOs; as a grant proposal writer and project manager at a New Hampshire agricultural education center; as a US Army lieutenant, and as an ESL instructor. I have a bachelor’s degree in history and government from Claremont McKenna College and Master’s degree in sustainable development from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, VT, and have worked or studied in Nepal, South Korea, Germany, Guatemala, and Saudi Arabia. I live in Bend with my wife Hanako and my dog Dewey.

Pat has a degree in Outdoor Leadership and has been working full time in the with adaptive sports organizations since 2008 first in the Washington, D.C., area, then Colorado, and now with OAS in Bend since 2016. Pat believes that access to the outdoors is critical to leading a full and thriving life and is working to continue to raise awareness of and breakdown the barriers that prevent many underrepresented populations from enjoying this healthy and quality of life enhancing pursuit. Pat has a background in leadership through the outdoors and formerly worked as a mountain sports photographer, skills which he utilizes to capture and showcase the OAS mission in action.

His work has been featured in over fifty publications, seven documentary films, as well as by the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Matt is married to Jessica and has two children, Henry (10) and Penelope (8), along with a dog and cat. They moved to Bend about a year ago on live on the West side.

I am the CEO and founder of Defense Architecture Systems Inc. and Gallant Technologies Inc. After a 14 year career at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory working on a multitude of government programs, I bring over 25 years of engineering design, prototyping and management for DAS customers in need of critical operational systems. I am dedicated to ensuring client and employee success, while bringing new capabilities and easier decision making to complex problems.

I was born in Colorado and moved to Maryland in the late 90's. With our move to Bend in 2020, I have been able to get back to my mountain-based Sasquatchian roots. I enjoy hanging with my family and focusing on outdoor activities including biking, running, and snowboarding.

Meg Chun

Meg Chun is the co-founder and current President of Bend Surf. Prior to launching Bend Surf in 2021, Meg was the CEO and co-founder of KIALOA Paddles where she held a myriad of leadership positions for over 20 years. At the end of 2018 she led the team successfully led the team through the sale of KIALOA Paddles to Werner Paddles.

Prior to living the life of a business owner, Meg spent the first 15 years of her career as a Special Education teacher. Today she blends the skills she acquired as a teacher with her business experience and also spends time consulting, coaching and mentoring others.

Meg is a member of the U.S. Bank Advisory Board, a legacy board member of the Oregon Outdoor Alliance, a board Member of Terra Frma and a co-facilitator of an Opportunity Knocks business group. She is a coach and an active racing member of Bend Oregon Outrigger Canoe Club.

Meg works and lives in Bend, Oregon with her husband Dave where she shares her passion for paddling and enjoys the many outdoor activities that Central Oregon has to offer.
